Darren Shafer is a founding principal of BeQic focused on leadership, transformation, and the systems that connect strategy with execution. He brings more than 35 years of experience across technology, operations, consulting, program and project delivery, and organizational transformation, with professional experience spanning healthcare, telecommunications, financial services, banking, travel technology, and other complex operating environments.

 

Darren began his career in software development, systems analysis, and business process automation, progressing through business and systems analysis, project leadership, consulting, and senior technology management. His early career included roles with GE Capital, Quest Diagnostics, DMR Consulting, and Sprint, building the technical and operational foundation that later shaped his approach to enterprise delivery and organizational change.

 

As Senior Vice President and Technology Director at Citigroup, Darren led the North America Operations and Technology Recovery Systems organization, with responsibility for technology direction, architecture, information workflows, automation, vendor relationships, risk, and service delivery. His work included business intelligence, workflow automation, secure information exchange, enterprise platforms, process improvement, and technology controls supporting hundreds of IT services.

 

He later moved more deeply into enterprise transformation and delivery leadership. At Travelport, Darren led globally distributed, cross-functional teams supporting major travel technology platforms and helped substantially shorten software delivery cycles while improving quality. At Schwab Charitable, Charter Communications, T-Mobile, and the University of Kansas Medical Center, he led or supported Agile and scaled-delivery transformations, coached leaders and teams, improved delivery governance and reporting, and helped organizations strengthen the connection between business priorities and execution.

 

Today, Darren brings that combination of technology, operations, leadership, delivery, and process experience to BeQic. His work focuses on helping leaders make execution more predictable by improving operating models, workflows, decision-making, delivery discipline, information flow, and the practical use of automation and AI. He approaches transformation as an operating challenge first, with technology and methodology selected to support the way the business actually needs to work.
